With the passing phase of time air travel has become not only a dire need in our daily lives but has also become the backbone of some of the major economies in the world. From daily routine meetings to yearly family vacations there are hundreds of planes flying this very moment fulfilling the demand. In this blog post, we shall be doing a flight review of the youngest airline in the Sultanate of Oman a country that is cocooned by majestic mountains and the Arabian Sea.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are talking about Salam Air, as the company slogan goes "Simply Omani".We wanted to know how simple a budget carrier from a middle east country would be like. Therefore we recently had the opportunity of flying this young airline from their hub in Muscat for a domestic hop to Salalah in December
Salam Air currently has a fleet of 3 Airbus A320 aircraft with an all economy 3-3 class leather seat configuration.

The airline started its international operations with primarily focusing on Dubai World Central (DWC) and then shifted its operations to Dubai International Airport (DXB) as of October 2017. Currently, it serves 9 destinations which include Salalah Sohar (seasonal), Shiraz, Karachi, Multan, Sialkot, Dubai, Doha, Baku, and Tbilisi.
Furthermore, here are some snaps of the trip.

1. Check in and Boarding were very efficient even though the flight was operating out of the old Muscat Airport terminal. A staircase was used to board the aircraft.

The seat I opted for was 16B a window and emergency exit row seat! ( This is just like having a business class seat on a budget airline)

2. The safety card consisted of the general pre-departure and emergency safety checklists and requirement as any other A320 flight.

3. The safety briefing was on time and the crew was very well informed about the in-flight procedures.

4. Being a budget airline, Salam Air does not serve full-service meals, yet if you still are a foodie and you want your taste buds going mid-flight, they have an onboard food cart with different snacks you could purchase from. They usually prefer Omani Rials but in some cases, USD is also accepted.

5.Pricing was not bad at all, for a135 USD return leg on the Muscat - Salalah route Salam Air did a wonderful job. The flight was on time, the cabins were clean and all in all the crew was extremely courteous.
